Aquatic Therapy-at the Richmond MEDFit Facility
- Reduce time of recovery
- Start rehabilitation sooner
- Enjoyable, comfortable, and more challenging

Doing the right therapy at the right time is so important to a comprehensive
rehabilitation plan. Whitewater Valley Rehabilitation offers the only aquatic
therapy pool in the surrounding area. Using the pool at the Richmond facility,
patients in the initial stages of rehabilitation can begin therapy sooner and
reduce recovery time by one-fourth. Plus, it’s fun and feels good so patients are
able to accept the challenge.
Aquatic therapy is indicated in early stages of therapy for patients needing
range of motion exercises with less discomfort, non-weight bearing exercises
and cardiovascular workouts using the natural resistance of water.
At Whitewater Valley Rehabilitation we develop a complete aquatic workout
plan for each individual that will progress to land based therapy whenever
possible. We are able to easily monitor the progression and measure the
strength of the workouts due to the technological design of the pool.
The pool itself is a marvel of technology and
engineering. The depth can be adjusted from 4 to 5
feet. The temperature is maintained at a steady 95° with a variance of ±1° as recommended by the
National Arthritis Foundation. Water resistance can be
increased as needed using the isokinetic aquatic
therapy system. The pool can be entered using a ladder
or, for special needs patients, there is a lift chair. The
pool is maintained by state certified staff using the strict
standards established for pools that serve the public.
Aquatic therapy can be used to rehabilitate
patients who may be suffering from one of the
conditions listed below:
- Sprains/Strains
- Status Post Orthopaedic Surgeries
- Arthritis
- Osteoarthritis
- Fibromyalgia
- Fractures
- Joint Replacement
- Weight Loss
A patient who is a candidate for aquatic therapy may also have other
medical/rehabilitation needs. Because Whitewater Valley Rehabilitation is a full
service facility, we are able to coordinate all phases of rehabilitation.
